01Scripture
The oldest act of worship
The Vedas open with Agni, and the Gita calls yagya the wheel that turns the world: from action comes yagya, from yagya rain, from rain food, and from food all life.
Bhagavad Gita 3.14
अयं यज्ञो भुवनस्य नाभिः
“This Yagya is the navel of the world.” — Rigveda 1.164.35

01आवाहनInvocation
Long before the word ecology existed, the rishis of Bharat built a ritual around one truth: what you offer, returns. Ghee and herbs return as fragrant air. Gratitude returns as rain. Ego, offered to the fire, returns as peace. That truth, set alight, is called यज्ञ.
02सहस्रA thousand fires
1008kunds ablaze
At Kurukshetra in March 2025, 1008 kunds burned together for nine days — the 102nd Mahayagya of Yagya Putra.

03यजमानThe Yajman
Revered by his devotees as Gurudev Bhagwan, Shri Shri 1008 Hari Om Ji Maharaj has given his life to a single sadhana — Yagya.
It began more than 25 years ago with a lone fire, lit during his sannyas yatra on the ruins of a forgotten Sun temple. It has grown into Mahayagyas where 1008 kunds blaze at once, across 24 states of Bharat — and into a vow of 108 Mahayagyas for the welfare of the world.

05आहुतिThe Offering
A yagya is a meeting — of fire and earth, matter and mantra, the giver and the given. Select an element.
अग्नि
AgniThe fire
The first word of the Rigveda. Agni is the messenger between worlds — the mouth through which every offering reaches the Divine.
कुण्ड
KundThe altar
A stepped pit of copper, brick or earth. Its terraces, the mekhalas, hold the fire like cupped hands; the ancient Shulba Sutras give the exact geometry.
समिधा
SamidhaThe sacred wood
Dry sticks of mango, peepal, palash or khair — chosen woods that burn clean and steady, the body the fire lives in.
हवि
HaviThe offering
Cow ghee, herbal samagri, grains and jaggery — the havi that the fire transforms into fragrance and light.
मन्त्र
MantraThe sacred sound
Each ahuti is sealed with स्वाहा — “well offered” — and the yajman adds इदं न मम: this is not mine.
इदं न मम
Idam na mama
“This is not mine.” Three words after every offering — the whole philosophy of yagya in one breath.

Peer-reviewed research found that medicinal havan smoke cut airborne bacteria by more than 94% within an hour — and the effect lasted a full day in a closed room.
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2007
03Nature
Yagya treats the earth, the waters and the plants as partners, not resources. The Yajurveda’s Shanti mantra asks for peace in the sky, the waters and the healing herbs alike.
Shukla Yajurveda 36.17
04Mind
Rhythmic mantra slows the breath; the flame gathers a scattered mind to one point; and इदं न मम loosens the grip of ego. Many come for the ritual and stay for the stillness.
